Our journey has been supported by the Bevan Commission since 2015, when they put out their first call for exemplar projects and we joined the very first (2016) cohort. This spawned follow up work by ourselves and others in the team but also allowed us to engage with this Adopt and Spread Programme when that call was announced in autumn 2019. We bid as Public Health Wales to aim to export the adoption of the processes developed within the Hywel Dda Service to our colleagues in the Betsi Cadwaladr and Swansea Bay Services, with the aim of viewing the impact with urine samples but also expanding to other sample types.
We attended the first event in Cardiff in February 2020 and were geared up for an exciting year and then the pandemic hit and all our plans changed. Nevertheless, as this website attests, narrative reporting is alive, well and blossoming in ways that we never envisaged when we began this journey.
